Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies charged two men believed to be intoxicated following the fireworks on July 4 in Faith.
Officials said medics were trying to make their way through the crowd in a golf cart to a woman who was having trouble breathing, but were blocked by Joshua Gray McDaniel, 24, and Zachary Lee Yarborough, 27.
Yarborough was the most troublesome said Capt. John Sifford, who was at the scene during the event and also responded along with other deputies.
When deputies arrested Yarborough, officials said, McDaniel became rowdy.
Yarborough and McDaniel were both charged with resist, delay, obstruct a public officer. Yarborough was also charged with assault on a government official and intoxicated and disruptive.
Officials said the assault charge against Yarborough came about as he scuffled with officers who tried to handcuff him. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond. McDaniel was issued a $1,000 secured bond. Both have since been released.
