Lane of U.S. 52 in Lexington closing

Starting Monday, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close one lane of southbound U.S. 52 south of U.S. 64 in Lexington to conduct slab leveling.
The closure, which should last approximately two weeks, will take place on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting.
Slab leveling is a process to correct the settling of the roadway without digging into the affected area. During the process, foam is injected into the pavement, then hardens to stabilize and raise the roadway. This can be done while other lanes carry traffic, and it can be completed much more quickly than other repair methods.
NCDOT encourages motorists to stay alert, watch for construction signs and obey the posted speed limit. Drivers may experience congestion while traveling through the work zone and should plan their commute accordingly.
