EAST SPENCER ó While some of those charged in November for their involvement in a rash of break-ins have already been sentenced, five of the seven await trials.
The following were arrested:
Tyquinn ěTyî Marquis Campbell, then 21, of Spencer.
Shanta Maurice ěDevilî Lomax, then 32, Lexington.
Jasmine Charmaine Johnson, then 21, Salisbury.
Carlito ěGallaî Garcia, then 18, a native of New York.
Reginald ěGhostî Petion, then 22, also a native of New York.
Charles Emmanuel ěBamî Johnson, then 23, of Salisbury.
Treasure Rishaye Gwyn, then 24, of Rowan County.
Authorities said the group targeted senior citizens in a string of break-ins that spanned about four months. About 20 homes were broken into through East Spencer.
The suspects usually broke in through an unlocked window at the back of the home or through the kitchen. The intruders ransacked the homes.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested Garcia and Petion, who authorities say were breaking into a home in Charlotte. Garcia and Petionís arrest led East Spencer investigators to the additional suspects.
Campbell has several pending matters that include: conspiring to break and enter a building, possession of stolen goods/property, two counts breaking and entering, safecracking, all felonies.
A charged of misdemeanor injury to real property was dismissed in May.
Both Shanta Maurice ěDevilî Lomax and Jasmine Charmaine Johnson each have a felony charge of conspiring to commit breaking and entering that are pending.
The court dismissed a number of charges related to Garcia including felony possession burglary tools, larceny after breaking and entering, felony conspiring to commit breaking and entering, and injury to personal property.
He was convicted of a lesser offense of attempted breaking and entering.
Garcia was found guilty of felony breaking and entering and sentenced to seven to nine months with the N.C. Department of Correction, which was suspended to 24 months of supervised probation. He was ordered to pay $236 in court costs/fines, a total of $325 in court appointed attorney fees, complete 50 hours of community service, submit to a DNA test and was given 73 days credit for time served while awaiting court.
Garcia was also found guilty of felony breaking and entering. He received six to eight months of active time. He was also ordered to pay $600 in court appointed attorney fees.
In addition, Garcia was found guilty of two more counts of felony breaking and entering, which were consolidated.
Petion was convicted of a lesser offense of felony attempted breaking and entering.
He was also found guilty of felony breaking and entering. He was sentenced to eight to 10 months with the N.C. Department of Correction, which was suspended to 24 months of supervised probation with nine months of intensive probation. Petion was ordered to pay $325 in court appointed attorney fees, also 50 hours of community service. He received credit for 159 days served while awaiting court.
Petion is also not to have contact with any witnesses or victims involved in the matter.
The court dismissed charges of possession of burglary tools as well as felony larceny after breaking and entering.
He also has a few charges that are pending that include: conspiring to commit breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and breaking and entering, all felonies.
The court dismissed a charge of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering for Johnson.
Johnson was convicted and found guilty of the following: two counts larceny after breaking and entering, two counts felony breaking and entering, misdemeanor injury to personal property, five counts felony possession of stolen goods, misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to a half an ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gwyn has several matters pending which include: two counts felony possession of stolen goods/property, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering and two counts misdemeanor possession of stolen property/goods.
The court dismissed a charge of possession of marijuana.
No court dates have been set for any of the above pending charges.
