First United Methodist Church scholarships
First United Methodist Church presented the Roy and Lula Goodman Scholarships to 14 college students during the Youth Sunday service on June 5.
Rising seniors include: Daniel Allen, son of Bruton and Jean Allen, Western Carolina University; Chandler Johnson, son of Craig and Lynne Johnson, North Carolina State University; and Spencer Scarvey, daughter of Dave and Katie Scarvey, University of Georgia.
Julia Kraft, daughter of Skip and Lisa Kraft, is a rising junior at University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Rising sophomores are: Thomas Allen, son of Bruton and Jean Allen, University of North Carolina at Pembroke; Alex Hudson, daughter of John Hudson, University of North Carolina at Greensboro; Thomas Langford, son of Glenn and Patty Langford, High Point University; Luke Lundy, son of Melanie Miller, High Point University; Luke Miller, son of Doug and Frances Miller, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Max Parker, son of Rick and Janet Parker, East Carolina University; Quinn Scarvey, daughter of Dave and Katie Scarvey, Lenoir-Rhyne University; and Lauren Watts, daughter of Rob and Jean Watts, East Carolina University.
Graduating from high school and rising college freshmen are Evan OíNeal, son of the Rev. Ross and the Rev. Julie OíNeal, University of North Carolina at Greensboro; and Samantha Zerger, daughter of Lisa Zerger and John and Laurie Zerger, Mars Hill College.
