Harris 50th Anniversary

Andrew Thomas Harris and Marian Wilson of Landis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 18, 2011, at an anniversary celebration hosted by their children, Harold and Andrea Harris Hicks and Kevin and Aricka Harris Hawkins; and their five grandchildren, Ashlee Hicks, Harrison Hicks, Avery Hawkins, Keenan Hawkins and Marial Hawkins, all of Durham.
An elegant luncheon event was held at Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant in Charlotte from 1 to 4 p.m.
A drop-in hors d’oeuvre and dessert reception was later held at the Harris’ home in Landis from 5 to 7 in the evening.
The Harris’ were united in marriage June 17, 1961, by the late Rev. B.L. Burge in Newton.
Andrew was formerly employed as a principal in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. He retired as Executive Director of the Salisbury-Rowan Community Service Council in 1999.
Marian retired as a teacher with Kannapolis City Schools in 1993.
