The Brick Street Live summer concert series moves to Castaways Seafood & Oyster Bar tonight and sets up the ultimate Salisbury beach party with A1A, the official and original Jimmy Buffett tribute band, performing.
A1A’s energetic, colorful and family-friendly show features classic Buffett tunes and more. Since 1992, Jeff Pike and A1A have been recognized internationally as the official and first Jimmy Buffett tribute show – and the only one sanctioned by Buffett himself. The group also records original material and recently released a new CD titled “The Road to Paradise.”
Castaways is located at 119 N. Link St. Gates open at 6 p.m., and general admission is $5. Guests may bring lawn chairs, and food and drinks are available for purchase. No coolers are permitted.
As part of an ongoing effort to assist local non-profit agencies, Brick Street Live will donate proceeds from a 50/50 drawing during the evening to The LandTrust for Central North Carolina.

Gold Hill Ghost Walk
GOLD HILL — The Village of Gold Hill will sponsor a Ghost Walk through the village on Saturday, July 23. Docents dressed in period attire will offer ghost stories at numerous shops and sites in the village.
The guided walks will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Arbor behind the restaurant. Tickets are $5, and children under 6 are free.

Lexington uptown stroll
LEXINGTON — Uptown Lexington holds another Sumnmer Stroll on Friday evening, July 22, from 6-8 p.m., where visitors can listen to music, look at the classic cars, watch kids decorate pigs, and learn about activities at the YMCA.
Headlining the activities is beach/blues quintet Greg and the BBQ Band, who will be performing from 6-8 p.m. in the Conrad & Hinkle Square.
Classic car enthusiasts will line the four quadrants of the squares starting at 6 p.m. Owners should register in the green tent starting at 5:30 and cars should be in place by 6:15.
Also in the square will be a children’s sidewalk chalk art area and Uptown Lexington mascot Miss Charlotte. On West Second Avenue, the YMCA will sponsor activities such as turbo kicking, rumba, bag toss and arts and crafts.

‘The Women’ auditions
CONCORD — Old Courthouse Theatre will hold auditions for Clare Booth Luce’s “The Women,” an acidic comedic commentary on the pampered lives and power struggles of various wealthy Manhattan socialites and up-and-comers and the gossip that propels and damages their relationships. While men frequently are the subject of their lively discussions and play an important role in the action on-stage, they are strictly characters mentioned but never seen.

Poetry Alive night
KANNAPOLIS — Stories Under the Stars featuring Poetry Alive will entertain audiences with a live performance on Saturday, July 23, on the patio at the Kannapolis Branch Library at 7 p.m.

Dylan Gilbert tour
WINSTON-SALEM — North Carolina-based indie rock band Dylan Gilbert & The Over Easy Breakfast Machine (www.dylangilbert.com) will perform in Winston-Salem at Krankie’s Coffee, 211 E. Third St., on Friday, July 22, appearing with Jews & Catholics and Free Electric State.

A trip to Cherokee
KANNAPOLIS — A trip is being planned by the Kannapolis Parks & Recreation Department to visit the shops and attractions of Cherokee on Tuesday, Aug. 9.
The cost is $20 per person, and lunch and dinner are not included. Registration deadline is Monday, July 25.
This trip is for ages 18 years and older. Bus transportation departs from Village Park, 700 West C St. in Kannapolis, and departure/return times vary based on itinerary. Maximum number of participants is 25 per trip and full payment is due on or before the trip registration deadline.
Future offerings in this series of day trips to historic and scenic attractions across North Carolina include the Hendersonville Apple Festival, Chinqua Penn Plantation, leaf viewing on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Biltmore House.

RALEIGH — As part of Burning Coal Theatre’s Summer “MusiCoal” series, Ed Stephenson and the Paco Band will perform on Sunday, July 31 at 7 p.m.
Guitarist Ed Stephenson, a Toronto native who lives in Raleigh, heads Guitar Studies at Meredith College. Locally he has performed with the NC Symphony, the NC Theater, the NC Bach Festival and the National Opera Company.
