A Salisbury man was arrested and charged with DWI after deputies say he wrecked his mo-ped while driving to his mother’s house Thursday night.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, authorities found Andrew Anderson, 35, lying against a tree with pieces of the crashed mo-ped strewn across Mendenhall Road.
Anderson, who lives at 165 Mendenhall Road, told authorities, according to the report, that he drove about 150 feet before wrecking the vehicle at about 10 p.m. Thursday night.
The report said Anderson told authorities he realized he couldn’t make it to his mother’s house on Oliver Road and crawled back into his front yard.
Authorities said Anderson was given a series of sobriety tests, including a Breathalyzer. He blew a .33 blood alcohol level, the report says.
Anderson was given a $1,500 bond. He was not injured in the crash.
According to the North Carolina Department of Correction’s website, Anderson was charged with DWI in 2001, 2002 and 2008.
