KANNAPOLIS — A Mooresville woman was arrested Tuesday after authorities say she embezzled money from her employer.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Crystal Dawn Overcash, 37, was arrested and charged with embezzlement by an employee after her employer, Franklin Homes Construction, reported to authorities on Dec. 24, 2010, that they had “uncovered some discrepancies.”
Guy and Terri Wing are the owners of Franklin Homes Construction, 2875 Cannon Blvd., Kannapolis, according to the report.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the embezzled amount.
The report said that authorities audited the company’s accounts and found that there were “some payments that (the owners) had not intended to pay.” The payments had been made from the company’s business account.
According to the report, Overcash, of 4260 Unity Church Road, Mooresville, has been employed by the company since 1999. It is unclear if she was still employed by Franklin Homes Construction at the time of arrest.
Overcash was given a $100,000 bond. She was released after posting bond.
More information will be available later.
