A 26-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after pretending to be asleep when deputies kicked in the front door of his home.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Garrett Yates, of 228 Faith Farm Road, was lying on the couch pretending to be asleep after deputies knocked on the door and kicked it in.
The report said deputies had gotten information that Yates, who was wanted for a probation violation, was at his home.
The officers got a key to the residence, but the door was dead-bolted and forceful entry was necessary, the report said.
Yates was also charged with resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer for not answering the door.
Yates was on probation from April 2010 charges of misdemeanor breaking and entering and misdemeanor larceny.
Yates was given a $7,200 bond. He was still in jail as of Friday morning.
