South Rowan celebrating 50 years

South Rowan High School will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year.
The South Rowan Alumni Association Inc. has planned special events beginning with the fall football season through graduation in the spring of 2012.
The first event will be in conjunction with home games during the football season. Each decade of students will be remembered at a home game according to the schedule listed below. Hotdogs with all the trimmings and beverages will be served in the school cafeteria. Chef Gary Propst (ë64) will be grilling those hotdogs. The doors open at 5 p.m. with serving to begin at 5:30 p.m., at a cost of $5 per person. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. The alumni present will be recognized before the game.
The schedule for the games and the classes to be honored is as follows:
Aug. 26 ó South vs. A.L. Brown, 1962-1969;
Sept. 2 ó South vs. Northwest Cabarrus, 1970-1979;
Sept. 23 ó South vs. West Rowan, 1980-1989 (homecoming);
Oct. 7 ó South vs. Carson 1990-1999;
Oct. 14 ó South vs. East Rowan, 2000-2011.
