Hurley Elementary School was targeted again over the weekend, leaving more than $1,000 in damages.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, one of the school’s janitors notified police at 5:30 a.m. Monday morning after noticing a window on the second-grade hall had been damaged.
After an investigation, the report said, four windows were damaged around the school, including one window in one of the school’s trailers.
The burglary is believed to have happened over the weekend between Aug. 4 at 4 p.m. and early Monday morning.
Thieves also stole more than $500 in two-way radios and two boxes of chicken nuggets.
The burglary is the second incident involving Hurley Elementary in recent weeks.
Thieves damaged three air conditioning units outside the school on July 26 and stole the copper piping from them.
Rowan County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson John Sifford said the burglary may be related to the July 26 incident.
Sifford said deputies will be “vigilant” in watching the area for any future incidents.
