SALISBURY — Two former North Rowan High School teachers accused of having sex with students are due in court on charges of violating their probation orders.
Matthew Miles Price, 30, pleaded guilty in August to having sex with three girls at the school. Forty charges of felony sex offense with a student were consolidated to five counts as part of a plea deal. Price received five years probation.
Price, of 1440 Lentz Road in China Grove, is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15 on charges he violated his probation, according to court records. Details of the violation were not available Tuesday.
Price taught physical education and coached track at North Rowan.
Zachary Paul Greene, 30, was in the Rowan County Detention Center under $10,000 bond on Tuesday. He was placed in jail Monday, according to county records.
According to court records, Greene violated his probation when he did not show up for a scheduled appointment with his probation officer.
Greene, of 810 Fourth St. in Spencer, is awaiting trial on the three felony counts of having sex with a student while teaching English and coaching at North Rowan High.
He was convicted in June of driving while impaired on June 29, 2010, about two months after resigning from the Rowan-Salisbury School System amid allegations of the improper relationship with the student.
A Spencer Police Department officer charged Greene after seeing his pickup swerving on Salisbury Avenue. Greene registered a .25 blood-alcohol level, more than three times the legal limit, police said.
When convicted on that charge last month, Greene received 18 months probation. According to N.C. Department of Correction records, that sentence was to run concurrent with November 2010 convictions of driving while impaired and carrying a concealed weapon in Cabarrus County.
Greene is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 9 on the probation violation.
