Two Salisbury men were arrested late Saturday night after police say they tried to elude authorities.
According to Salisbury Police, Sebastian Rankin, 25, and Kevin Chawlk, 25, were stopped by police at about 10 p.m. near the 700 block of South Main Street.
The report said when authorities stopped the men’s 1984 blue Buick, Rankin jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.
An officer pulled in front of Rankin, cutting him off and attempted to stop the man. The report said the man continued to flee and the officer shocked him with his Taser.
The driver of the car, Chawlk, began to drive away after Rankin was subdued but was cut off by an incoming Salisbury Police officer and was also arrested.
After searching Rankin, of 119 Knox St., police found he was carrying a concealed pistol. He had an outstanding warrant for a charge of assault inflicting serious injury.
Police also found an open bottle of liquor in the car and one gram of marijuana.
Rankin was charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer, assault inflicting serious injury and carrying a concealed handgun. He was given a $6,000 bond.
Chawlk, of 609 Harrel St., was charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer, simple possession of marijuana, driving with a revoked license and driving with an open alcohol container. He was given a $3,000 bond.
