KANNAPOLIS ó Singer-songwriter Ben Folds from Winston-Salem, who stars as a judge on NBCís ěSing Off,î and rock-a-billy legend Billy ěCrashî Craddock of Greensboro are among the 2011 inductees into the N.C. Music Hall of Fame.
Also set to be inducted Oct. 13 in Kannapolis are:
Grammy award-winning tenor Anthony Dean Griffey of High Point
Kinston native Maceo Parker, a jazz/funk sax player who was James Brownís sideman
Contemporary Christian recording artist Michael English of Wallace
Songwriter/playwright/author Billy Edd Wheeler from Swannanoa
Songwriter John D. Loudermilk of Durham
The late bluegrass singer/songwriter/musician Clyde Moody
The Music Hall of Fame, located on the N.C. Research Campus, has assigned Quick Response, or QR, bar codes to every exhibit in the museum to provide visitors greater access to the music and history of the more than three dozen current inductees.
The QR code format enables those with smart phones to access each inducteeís biography and listen to and view their videos and concerts. Smart phones will require downloading the free application, Scan Life Barcode Reader.
The museum also provides laminated sheets with all the exhibit bar codes so visitors can listen and view the information and music after theyíve left the museum.
The museum is located at 109 West A Street in Kannapolis. It is open free to the public from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and on weekends by appointment.
