Call for vendors
CHARLOTTE ó Carolina Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be Nov. 23-Dec. 31 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Christmas Light Park and Christmas Village.

OCT auditions
CONCORD ó Old Courthouse Theatre, 49 Spring St. NW, will hold auditions for ěA Broadway Christmas Carol,î a fractured holiday fable featuring three actors, one piano player, many witty song parodies, split second costume changes and a breakneck pace.

ëPoochieí auditions
Spoken Space Theatre, a new theatatrical company, will hold auditions for ěPoochie,î a new play by Sam Post, Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 12 and 13, from 7-9 p.m. at The Looking Glass Artist Collective, 405 N. Lee St.
Justin Dionne will direct the play. Performance dates are October 19-22.
Poochie is about a family dealing with Alzheimerís Disease. Roles for five mature actors (2 male and 3 female) and two actors in early 20s (1 male and 1 female).

Arc of Rowan exhibit
The art show reception for The Arc of Rowan exhibit at Waterworks will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 5:30 ń 6:30 p.m. The exhibition will feature works of art created by the children of The Arc of Rowan 2011 Summer Day Program.
The exhibition will be featured in the upstairs Graham Studio and will run from Sept. 7-28.
The Arc of Rowan is a Rowan County United Way Agency that provides services and support for people of all ages with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). The Summer Day Program was a 6-week program where the children worked on their educational goals, self-help skills, identified skill areas, and art activities.

Community Band
The Piedmont Prime Time Community Band is accepting new members during the month of September for its tenth fall/Christmas season, with the first rehearsal taking place on Sept. 15. The band rehearses on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the family life center of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, 2299 N. Main Street, Kannapolis.
Members must be able to read music, attend rehearsals and play one of the following: flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone horn, tuba or percussion. No guitar or keyboard players are needed.

HENDERSONVILLE ó The North Carolina Apple Festival is held annually over Labor Day Weekend in Hendersonville. This yearís festival is the 65th.

Chinqua Penn Plantation- ó ń Lunch at Lexington BBQ and then Historic Chinqua Penn Plantation, Wednesday, Sept. 28, $30 per person, registration deadline tomorrow, Sept. 2.
Leaf Viewing on the Blue Ridge Parkway ń Wednesday, Oct. 19, $15 per person (lunch not included), registration deadline Oct. 3.
The Biltmore House ń Tour the gardens, dine at Biltmoreís finest restaurant, take the Christmas Candlelight Tour of the mansion; Wednesday, Nov. 16, $100 per person (dinner, admission included), registration deadline Oct. 7.
All trips are for ages 18 years and older. Bus departs from Village Park, 700 West C St. in Kannapolis. Departure and return times vary based on itinerary. Full payment is due on or before the trip registration deadline.
