On Sunday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m., The Oakland Heights Congregation, 205 Newsome Road, will hold a Patriot Day service, honoring all local service personnel who are invited to attend wearing their daily work uniform, including hats, service caps, protective gear, scrubs, service caps, jackets, etc. Veterans are invited to wear their old uniforms.
Guests are also invited to bring their service vehicles (land, air or sea). There is a large field by the church with plenty of space to display colors, gear and equipment.
These local service personnel will be recognized and honored: firemen and staff; police and law enforcement officers and staff; state troopers serving or living in or around our community; military personnel, reservists, and guard units; disabled American veterans members and auxiliaries; American Legion units and auxiliaries; AmVets and auxiliaries; Vietnam veterans; all doctors, nurses, techs and staff from the Salisbury VA hospital; anyone involved in public service in any way; members of the media.

New Gilead Reformed
CONCORD ó Dr. David Olah will preach at the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, Sept. 4 at New Gilead Reformed Church, 2400 Old Salisbury-Concord Road.
Olah was the administrator of North Hills Christian School from 1998-2002 and has been president of Barber-Scotia College since 2008.
South China Grove
CHINA GROVE ó The South China Grove Church of God will host a gospel singing concert in the 11 a.m. service tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 4.
Featured are singers and recording artists Parables of Christ from Conover (www.parablesgospel.com ) Following the concert, the public is invited to stay for a covered -dish meal and time of fellowship with the group in the fellowship hall.

Tower of Power

House of Prayer event
The congregation of the United House of Prayer for All People will be attending services in Greensboro at 101 S. Dudley St. Monday, Sept. 5 through Sunday, Sept. 11, to celebrate the 85th annual Holy Convocation Season.
National leader of the church, the Honorable Bishop C. M. Bailey, will be present on Friday through Sunday. Services begin at 7:30 p.m. nightly.
On Sunday, Sept. 11 there will be a baptismal service across the street from the church starting at noon. Services on Sunday afternoon start at 5 or 6 p.m, TBA.
The local church at 501 Concord Road will be closed all week.
Maranatha Bible
Maranatha Bible Church kicks off its fall programs this Wednesday night, Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. with a meal catered by Debbie Suggs. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
Children pre-K through grade 6 will participate in the Word of Life Olympian program that involves Bible teaching, scripture memorization and Christian service projects. Grades 7-12 will meet with youth pastor Brian Hancock. For adults, Bible study and prayer will be led by Bob Freitas.

Mt. Zion Lutheran

Olde Countrie Faire
CONCORD ó All Saints Episcopal Church is holding its biennial Old Countrie Faire next Saturday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., at the church, 525 Lake Concord Road.
Activities include live music by Too Much Sylvia, a day-long auction, raffle, flea market and silent auction. There will be food, arts and crafts and childrenís activities.

Allen Temple
Allen Temple Presbyterian Church of Cleveland will host a flapjack fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 10. All proceeds raised will directly benefit the church.
