Series: Lexington leads 9-1. The series dates all the way back to 1957. Lexington beat Davie seven straight seasons from 1977-83.
Last meeting: Davie’s only victory in the series came in the most recent meeting in 1984. That result was 34-28 in two overtimes and allowed Davie to share the NPC title with Lexington and Thomasville.
The schools haven’t met since, not all that surprising since Davie moved up to 4A while Lexington has been 2A for a while.
Last week: Lexington’s game with Forestview was canceled due to weather issues on Friday; Davie got its running game going in a solid 24-10 victory against Alexander Central
Next week: Lexington will take on another 4A school when it travels to North Davidson; Davie also enjoys playing a challenging schedule and will host Thomasville
Game notes: Davie is potentially an offensive juggernaut. QB Adam Smith has thrown for 610 yards, while Stephon Smoot rushed for 180 last week against Alexander Central.
Smoot’s huge game behind blockers such as Cole Blankenship and Mick Spillman was the biggest ground assault by a War Eagle since 2005.
Nose guard Kyle Bullins enjoyed a destructive game against AC, and kicker Woody Parrish is 6-for-6 on PATs and has kicked a field goal.
Lexington’s speed and athleticism overwhelmed Robinson and North Stanly in its first two games.
Quandarious Crump, 215 pounds of fast-twitch muscle fiber, destroyed Robinson with two TD catches, a TD run and a TD off a blocked punt. QB C.J. Woodberry and RB Marquez Grayson also are exceptional talents.
