A Winston-Salem man was charged on Thursday with two felonies after police say he tried to pass a check in the name of a Salisbury company that is no longer open.
According to Salisbury Police, Bryan Quinn Lee, 23, was arrested when police arrived at Ace Cash Plus, 1529 W. Innes St., after a call about a fraud.
Police said the check was made out to Salisbury Building Supply, which they said has not been open for some time.
Authorities also said the Social Security number Lee gave Ace Cash Plus was fake. The amount of the check was not available.
Officers charged Lee, who was still in the business when they arrived, with felony identity theft and felony uttering a forged instrument.
Lee, of 3713 Danube Drive, Winston-Salem, was given a $5,000 bond and was in jail Friday morning.
