Last meeting: West enjoyed a smashing 66-7 win in 2010. That game set a record for the most points ever allowed by a South team.
History: The series goes back to 1961 with the opening of South. South won that first encounter 18-0.
West has won 10 straight in the series since South prevailed 31-24 in two OTs in 2000. There hasn’t been a close game since the Falcons edged the Raiders 42-39 in 2003.
Streaks: West has won 38 straight county games dating back to 2001. West has won 27 straight NPC contests dating back to 2007.
Coaches: South’s Jason Rollins is 0-5 against West. West’s Scott Young, seeking career win No. 139, is 11-2 vs. South.
Last week: West won a 22-15 struggle with Statesville; South hung with West Iredell a long time before being blown away 47-15

Game notes: South has the county’s most prolific passing attack — by far — with QB Nathan Lambert (939 passing yards), tight end Josh Medlin (18 catches, 418 yards) and receiver Brandon Williams (17 catches, 279 yards), but the Raiders have had no running game the past two weeks and scant defense all year. The Raiders have hard-nosed guys like Eric Tyler, but they are allowing a frightening 46.2 points a game.
It’s not likely West will hang another 66 on the Raiders, but tailbacks Dinkin Miller and Desmond Jackson should have a field day.
And with no running game to worry about, beasts such as Troy Culbertson and Greg Dixon could be in for a major sack-fest.
