Sexton Guertin Wedding
Holly Irene Sexton of Salisbury and Daniel Ernest Guertin of Philadelphia, PA, were united in marriage June 11, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic church. Father Bryan Small officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the Beaver Dam Historical Home and Grounds in Davidson.
Guests were greeted on the front porch and lawn of the home with appetizers and punch. Dinner on the back lawn was under a tent, and a family-style meal of the bride and groom’s favorite southern foods was served. Music was provided by the Swift Creek band from Raleigh. The wedding cake was made by the bride’s sister and Matron of Honor, Taylor Starrett of Salisbury, using her great-grandmother’s chocolate cake recipe, a family favorite. The cake topper was composed of needle-felted figures of the bride and groom, handcrafted by the bride.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.  She wore a strapless ivory cotton gown with a soft green linen flower belt at the waist. She carried a ivory beaded flower bouquet with touches of peach and green.
The matron of honor and bridesmaids all wore different dresses in a peach-colored theme. The matron of honor carried a beaded cluster of three yellow roses, and the bridesmaid’s each carried a single beaded flower embellished with vintage Venetian beads in the colors of yellow, peach and green. The beaded wedding flowers were created by the mother of the bride. The groom and groomsmen all wore khaki suits and boutonničres made of original fabric and vintage flower tiebacks handcrafted by the bride.
Prelude music was “It is Well,” and the bridal procession was to “How He Loves Us.” Mary Cameron Stewart, bridesmaid, and Will Childs, friend of the bride, led the music during the ceremony. Lectors were Tom Thriveni and Mariana Sanchez.  
 Serving as bridesmaids were Abigail Willson of Ruston, LA, Caroline Sellers of Richmond, VA, Bessie Brown of Columbia, SC, Mary Godley of Auburn, AL, and Mary Cameron Stewart of Albany, GA.
Jeff Guertin of Salisbury stood as his brother’s best man. Groomsmen included brother of the groom Nick Guertin of Salisbury, Tom Thriveni of Charlotte, Max Swicegood of Washington, D.C., and Julian Scarborough of Salisbury.
Program attendants were Kelly Doran, Chris Leonard and Liza Fisher, all of Salisbury.
The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Cathy Sexton of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Ralph and Joline Quackenbush of Penhook, VA, and the late Robert and Irene Sexton of Tom’s River, NJ. A 2007 graduate of Salisbury High School, Holly received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fibers from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2011, graduating magna cum laude. She is assistant print designer for print and pattern with Lilly Pulitzer, King of Prussia, PA.
The groom is the son of Dan Guertin of Salisbury and Karen Smith of Rockwell and the grandson of John and Suzanne Casey and Judy Casey, all of Salisbury, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alphe Guertin of North Haven, CT. A 2006 graduate of Salisbury High School, Daniel received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Emory University in 2010. He is a graduate student at Villanova University in Philadelphia.
The couple honeymooned in Sevierville, Tenn., and now reside in Philadelphia, Pa.

On Friday, June 10, a Bridesmaid’s Luncheon was hosted by Cam Campbell, Anne Scott Clement, Beffie Cook, Judy Currin, Beverly Dillard, Adair Doran, Diane Fisher, Marianna Swaim and Jackie Wilson at Carolina Lily. A Rehearsal Dinner hosted by the groom’s parents was held at Cauble Winery that evening.   
During the engagement period, celebrations included an Engagement Party hosted by the couple’s families on Oct. 9, 2010. A Wedding Shower hosted by Taylor Starrett, Matron of Honor was held in Salisbury on April 16. A hour by hour shower hosted by Abigail Willson, Mary Godley, Mary Cameron Stewart, Caroline Sellers and Bessie Brown, bridesmaids and friends of the bride, was held in Savannah on April 23.
