Rowan Helping Ministries
SALISBURY — With many Rowan County residents experiencing hard times, artist Cara J. Reische wanted to portray something “light and uplifting” in a Christmas card.
She did, and a Rowan Helping Ministries committee chose her work to adorn its 2011 Christmas Honor Card.
Titled “Hope & Faith,” Reische’s mixed media work shows two young angels embracing and laughing.
“When I received the email from the committee asking for local artists to submit their work, I had to think what was relevant across the board for this economic time,” Reische said. “I wanted something light and uplifting and easy to look at.”
Rowan Helping Ministries Executive Director Kyna Foster said Reische “has beautifully captured through this artwork Rowan Helping Ministries’ mission of putting God’s love into action by giving hope and faith to people in need.”
“By giving this card to a friend, people can help and give hope to Rowan County residents who are in financial crisis,” Foster said.
The Honor card has been a Rowan Helping Ministries tradition for two decades.
It gives artists a chance to support the community through the nonprofit and lets supporters honor friends, a co-worker, a family member, teacher or others by making a minimum $5 donation.

The Christmas Honor Card is available at The Bible Book Store, Trinity Oaks Retirement Center, Critters, Caniche, Fine Frame Gallery, all branches of F&M Bank, Stitchin’ Post, Queens Gifts, Quick Copy, Lions Share Credit Union, Debbie Bernhardt Jewelry and Rowan Helping Ministries.
