August is National Coffee Month, and Dunkin’ Donuts is kicking off the month by introducing new French Vanilla and Hazelnut Swirls for coffee beverages. Dunkin’ Donuts also unveiled new Coffee Creme Donuts, the brand’s first donuts made with Dunkin’ Donuts’ Original Blend Coffee.
A permanent addition to Dunkin’ Donuts’ menu, new French Vanilla and Hazelnut Swirls are a sweeter, creamier take on the brand’s most popular coffee flavors.
The donuts are available in two varieties: Glazed Coffee Creme Donut features a glazed yeast shell filled with coffee buttercreme and drizzled with chocolate icing, while the new Coffee, Creme & Sugar Donut features a yeast shell filled with coffee buttercreme and finished in powdered sugar. Both donuts are available for a limited time at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide.

National what day?
August 14th is National Creamsicle Day, though research has shown no official documentation that indicates that. Still August is a good month to enjoy the frozen treat and try variations on the theme. The classic is orange and vanilla, but Pospsicle also makes cherry and vanilla.
For a tipsy Creamsicle, try this cocktail: 1 ounce vanilla vodka, 1/2 ounce triple sec (orange flavored liqueur), orange juice, half and half. Pour the vodka and triple sec into a mixing glass filled with ice. Fill with equal parts orange juice and half and half. Shake well. Strain into a glass filled with crushed ice.

Food in the movies
“The Hundred-Foot Journey,” a movie starring Helen Mirren, is about the culture class between A classical, Michelin-starred French restaurant and the new Indian restaurant that opens across the street. Manish Dayal stars as the young Indian cook Mirren steals away, and had to attend a monthlong crash course in all things culinary so he would look believable in the kitchen. Dayal was raised in Orangeburg, S.C.
Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey produced the lush movie, which is getting mixed reviews, though critics agree Mirren and Bollywood’s Om Puri are the creme de la creme.
