On Oct. 21, Overton Elementary School students attended a career fair, hearing volunteers from the community talk about their jobs, from musician to physical therapist.
The fair is done in conjunction with the Dream program at Overton, said Krystal Kelly, site coordinator at Overton Elementary for Communities in Schools. The Dream program is designed to help motivate students in kindergarten through fifth grade to achieve and excel both academically and socially, Kelly said. The program meets monthly, with 50-100 students attending.
The fall fair focused on college-oriented careers, said Kelly, who organized the event. The spring career fair at Overton will focus on trades and two-year training jobs.
