Salisbury’s soccer team was rained out on Wednesday night against Shelby.
The 2A West final has been rescheduled for tonight in Shelby at 6 p.m. Admission is $7.
The NCHSAA has set the schedule for this weekend’s championship matches at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, even though some teams are still being determined.
1A championship — Friday night, 7:30 p.m. North Carolina School of Science & Math vs. Hendersonville or Bishop McGuinness.
2A championship — Saturday, 11 a.m., Carrboro-East Duplin winner vs. Salisbury-Shelby winner.
3A championship — Cardinal Gibbons vs. Charlotte Catholic or Asheville, Saturday, 2 p.m.
4A championship — Saturday, 5 p.m., Green Hope vs. Myers Park or T.C. Roberson.

College women’s hoops
The Livingstone women’s basketball team fell 60-50 at home to Belmont Abbey on Wednesday.
Jasmine Murray led the Blue Bears (1-2) with 14 points and six boards. Tiffany Evans and Kelcyn Manurs scored eight each.
Livingstone plays Tuskegee on Friday in the Johnson C. Smith Invitational.
Tallahassee Community College’s Bubbles Phifer (Salisbury) scored 26 points on Tuesday in an 83-74 win against Florida State-Jacksonville.
Ashia Holmes (Salisbury) had seven points and five rebounds as Radford rolled 69-46 against Winston-Salem State on Wednesday.
Isis Miller (Salisbury) blocked a shot for the Rams.
Jessica Heilig (Salisbury) produced 11 points and seven rebounds for Gardner-Webb in a 64-48 win against Kennesaw State on Tuesday.
Middle school hoops
The 7th annual Jack Campbell Hoops Classic will be held at the Boyd Dolphin Tank on the campus of Sacred Heart on Saturday, Nov. 26.
Campbell, a basketball, baseball and soccer captain at Salisbury High and Eagle Scout, was a graduate and parishioner of Sacred Heart. He remains a source of inspiration for many 6[0xbd] years after he died of cancer. He was 19 when he died May 19, 2005, after an extended battle with the disease.
The event is held annually to raise funds for a scholarship given at Salisbury High to a senior scholar-athlete in Campbell’s name.
The Hoops Classic consists of three games. It will begin with a coed game featuring current middle school players at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., Sacred Heart’s female alumni will play a game. At 8 p.m., the male alumni will play. All participants are asked to make a $3 donation to play. The entire community is asked to support the evening in Jack’s memory.

Sacred Heart’s boys defeated the Rowan-Cabarrus Home Education team 38-14 at the Dolphin Tank.
Joseph Harrison scored nine points to lead the Dolphins. Spencer Storey had eight points, Reilly Gokey scored seen, and Arun Kelly-Rajan and Justin Boyd scored six each.
Storey had eight rebounds, Will Casmus pulled down six, while Kelly-Rajan and Walker Latimer had five each. Boyd had five steals.
Austin Lilly had six points and eight rebounds for the Stallions.
Sacred Heart welcomes Forsyth Country Day for a varsity doubleheader on Friday.
College football
Wingate quarterback Cody Haffly was named the SAC Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Emory & Henry’s Matt Turchin (West Rowan) kicked three field goals, including a 46-yarder, in Saturday’s win against Guilford.
College men’s hoops
Brevard’s Darius Moose (Carson) scored 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting in a 68-61 loss to North Greenville on Wednesday.
Fayetteville State’s Jamel Carpenter (West Rowan) scored 14 points in a loss to UNC Pembroke on Tuesday.
Johnathan Gaddy (South Rowan) has changed post-grad programs. Gaddy is now at N.C. Tech Prep Christian Academy in Charlotte.
The Pfeiffer gym parking lot will be closed for refurbishing for a week, starting on Monday, Nov. 21.
Fans attending Monday’s game against Virginia State will have to park on the main side of campus and walk across the bridge to the gym.
College volleyball
Catawba plays in the Southeast Regional at Wingate on Friday afternoon.
Fourth-seeded Catawba will play fifth-seeded Lincoln Memorial. The winner moves on to play top-seeded Wingate or No. 8 seed Lees-McRae.
Catawba is in the regional for the fourth time, appearing previously in 2001, 2008 and 2009. Catawba made the regional final in 2008.
Jenny Young needs 11 digs to set the Catawba single-season record.
Kaitlyn Whitmer needs nine kills to reach 1,000 for her career.
College baseball
Appalachian State announced the signing of eight players: Sam Agnew (Marietta, Ga.), pitcher Alex Barr (Starmount), outfielder Jaylin Davis (NE Guilford), infielder Dillon Dobson (Starmount), catcher Alex Minton (West Wilkes), infielder Dylan Richardson (Randleman), pitcher Clyde Tate (N. Davidson) and outfielder Preston Tiller (Ardrey Kell).
