Reed Wiggins
CHARLOTTE — Carissa Anne Reed and Michael Carl Wiggins were united in marriage Sunday. Oct. 30, 2011, at the Palmer Building. The Rev. Chris Henson, a longtime friend of the groom and his brother, performed the outdoor ceremony, which was immediately followed by a reception inside.
The reception included a live deejay, who invited guests to dance, and a face painter, who invited the children of guests to have their faces painted. She also created balloon animals for the children and gave them Halloween treats.
The bride was escorted by her father, Joel Thomas “Joe” Reed. She was attended by her longtime best friend, Krissy Alex, with Mr. Jeff Allen as her bride’s man, who is a longtime friend of the bride and groom who they worked with at Wachovia in Charlotte.
The groom’s best man was his brother, Anthony Wiggins, and a past roommate Bobby Debreson.
The bride is the daughter of Joe and Debbie Reed, formerly of Corning, N.Y., who now reside in Victoria, Tex. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Reed and the late Mr. Reed of Corning, N.Y. This special Nana, Mary Reed, now lives in Raleigh. Her other special grandmother in attendance was Mrs. Frances Backerman, also of Corning, N.Y. Carissa, “Cryssi,” grew up in Corning and moved to Charlotte with her family, where she met her groom, Michael. Their first date was on Oct. 30, the same date of their wedding.
The groom is the son of John and Roxanne Wiggins of Mooresville and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Mary Agnes Wiggins of Mooresville and Mrs. Josie “Jo” and the late Jimmie Loyd Young of Landis. A 1999 graduate of South Rowan High School, he was the computer specialist of his class at King’s College. He and Cryssi are founding members of a new business in Pittsburgh, Pa., that deals with prepaid gift cards.
The couple have delayed their honeymoon until after Christmas and are residing in Pittsburgh.
“Extended Courtesies”
Special events for the couple included a luncheon in their honor and her parents honor at The Capital Grille in Charlotte. The event was hosted by the groom’s parents, John and Roxanne Wiggins.
The bride’s parents hosted a cookout at Dockside Lane in Sherrills Ford with many of the bride’s out-of-town family included among the guests.
The bride and groom hosted a Halloween party at the home on Friday. Oct. 28.
On Saturday, the groom’s parents, John and Roxanne Wiggins, hosted a rehearsal dinner at Lancaster’s BBQ in Mooresville that featured an “Alice in Wonderland” theme. Many out-of-town family members, along with the wedding party, were in attendance.
