The N.C. Department of Transportation will be shifting traffic on I-85 South in Concord from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Friday and again on Saturday night, weather permitting.
The work is part of a $125 million project to widen 6.8 miles of I-85 from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to N.C. 73 (Exit 55), and to build new interchanges at Poplar Tent Road (Exit 52) and N.C. 73. The contractor, Lane Construction, expects to complete the project in November 2013.
Friday night:
Crews will close the right lane and shift traffic from north of N.C. 73 to north of Kannapolis Parkway (Exit 54).
Saturday night:
Crews will close the right lane and shift traffic from north of Kannapolis Parkway to one half mile south of the exit, near the Coddle Creek bridge.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
