SALISBURY — The J.C. Price High School National Alumni Association will hold its winter regional meeting in Charlotte this weekend. Delegates to the two-day meeting will convene at the Country Inn & Suites on East McCullough Drive near North Tryon Street and Harris Boulevard.
National President Kathleen Perdue of Maple Heights, Ohio, will preside at the sessions, including executive board meeting, 5:30 p.m. Friday and the General Membership Meeting, 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Agenda items will include plans for the 2012 grand reunion in Salisbury on June 22 and 23, scholarship applications, updates on the former high school buildings and grounds which now have a historical marker erected on site and the proposed West End Neighborhood Transformation Plan which includes the school property.
Social events include an evening at the historic Excelsior Night Club on Friday. A luncheon, dinner and dance on Saturday are also scheduled.
Special recognition will be given to Clara Rankin Rich, Class of 1951. Rich, the reigning alumni queen, represents the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Chapter of the association. She retired from the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing after 30 years of service and has held numerous positions in the alumni association. Members of her court — Glenda Davenport Morris of Salisbury, Theodore Jordan of Gastonia and Derrick Rippy of Ohio — will also be acknowledged.
