Catawbaís menís basketball team rallied for an 85-80 overtime win against Saint Augustineís on Friday night at Goodman Gym in the first game of the 11th Annual Salisbury Roundball Tournament.
Sophomore Keon Moore led the Indians (2-1) with a career-high 35 points, with the biggest three coming at the end of regulation.
After Saint Augustineís Joel Kindred (19 points) hit a 3-pointer with seven seconds left for a 75-72 Falconsí lead, Moore raced downcourt and drilled a 3 of his own at the buzzer.
Catawba went 8-for-10 on free throws in OT to ice the game. The Indiansí only field goal of the extra period came when Willie Gilmore found Lee Martin wide open under the basket one minute in. It would be all the Indians needed as shots started falling from the charity stripe.
Martin scored 13 points for Catawba, 11 in the second half. Tyrece Little contributed nine points, 12 rebounds and five blocks. Senior Justin Huntley and freshman Gilmore both dished out four assists.
St. Augustineís led by nine with 5:16 left in regulation. After a timeout, Martin tallied the next six points to get Catawba rolling. Maurice Knight had a thunderous dunk and Gilmore a 3-pointer to knot the score at 72 with just under a minute left.
The Indians play their final game of the tournament on Sunday at 3 p.m. against No. 2-ranked Alabama-Huntsville. St. Augustineís will meet UAH on Saturday at 4.
n College volleyball
Catawba senior outside hitter Shay Meeks piled up 21 kills to lead the fourth-seeded Indians past No. 5 seed Lincoln Memorial in Southeast Regional quarterfinal action Friday night at Wingateís Cuddy Arena.
Catawba won 25-15, 20-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11 to improve to 24-7 overall and advance to the regional semifinals.
LMU ended its season at 22-7.
Meeks added 10 digs for the Indians. Junior setter Jordan Raye notched a triple-double with 12 kills, 46 assists and 17 digs. It marked her fifth triple-double of the season.
Two players surpassed milestones for Catawba. Junior outside hitter Kaitlyn Whitmer added 11 kills and 10 digs for the Indians, going over 1,000 kills for her career. Junior libero Jenny Young collected 32 digs to break the school single-season record. She now has 752.
Catawba plays Wingate tonight at 6:30 p.m.

The Livingstone womenís basketball team lost 81-70 to Tuskegee in the Queen City Classic on Friday.
Kelcyn Manurs scored 20 points for the Blue Bears.
Also in double figures were Montiya Harrison with 13 points and Rashida Elbourne with 11. Jasmine Murray led the Blue Bears with nine rebounds. Tiffany Evans pulled down eight boards.
Livingstone (1-2) shot 27 percent in the second half.
n Johnson C. Smith cruised to a 79-54 victory over Pfeiffer on Friday in the Queen City Classic.
Terran Quattlebaumís 22 points led the Golden Bulls (3-0).
Christina Harvey led the Falcons (1-2) with 13 points and eight boards Shelley Reese scored 12.

East Rowan infielder Ashton Fleming has verbally committed to Surry Community College.
Fleming, a second baseman, batted. 350 with 25 RBIs last season.
Fleming plans to sign with the Knights in January.

Junior forward Ibukun Ademoyero scored a pair of goals to lead Durhamís North Carolina School of Science and Math to a 4-0 triumph over Hendersonville in the state 1A boys soccer championship played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary on Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets won in two overtimes. Kamryn Stamey scored 13 points to lead the Jackets.
West 35, Mooresville 25
Khaila Hall stroked 24 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Shanice Miller scored 20 points for the Patriots, while Taylor Martin added six.
Hall poured in 20 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 35-25 win over Mooresville earlier in the week. Tatciana Cowan scored five.
Sacred Heart JVs 27, Community School of Davidson 2
Julia Honeycutt scored 10 points to lead the Dolphins. Bess Bryan scored eight, and Mary Sobataka had five.
8th-grade boys
Knox 58, Corriher-Lipe 32
Knoxís Trojans were led by 18 points by Jalen Sanders.
Deshaude White had six points and six rebounds for the Trojans (2-0). Corban Usry had five steals.
Knox returns after the Thanksgiving break to take on Mooresville.

Salisbury resident Frank Adams missed out by two strokes in the second stage of PGA Qualifying School.
He tied for 37th in a field of 77 with scores of 69-74-73-70 ó 286 (2-under).
The final stage of Qualifying School is Nov. 30-Dec. 5 at PGA West in LaQuinta, Calif.
