Police: Man tries to flee on mo-ped, fails

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was arrested on Monday after police said he tried to escape from officers on a mo-ped.
According to Salisbury Police, 33-year-old Andre Tyrone Turner, 731 S. Church St., ran a stop light near the intersection of Hill and South Railroad streets.
When officers attempted to stop him, they said the man accelerated, but ditched the mo-ped less than a half mile later and ran on foot.
He was caught by officers shortly after and was taken into custody.
Turner was charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer, misdemeanor fleeing to elude and three counts of failure to appear.
He was given a $33,500 bond and was in jail on Tuesday.
