Pfeiffer holiday concert Dec. 4

The Pfeiffer University Department of Music and Fine Arts will present its annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 4, 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Henry Pfeiffer Chapel on the Universityís Misenheimer Campus (48340 U.S. 52N). The concerts are free and open to the public.
Featured will be the Pfeiffer University concert and handbell choirs and wind ensemble. As is custom, the audience will participate in singing familiar carols.
ěWeíre thrilled to invite the public and entire Pfeiffer community to participate in a time-honored Pfeiffer University tradition, presented in a fresh, new way,î said Dr. David Kirby, associate professor of music and chair of Pfeifferís department of music.
Performance selections include:
Concert choir: ěDeck the Hallsî (in 7/8); ěLo, How A Rose Eíer Blooming,î arranged by Hugo Distler; and ěLux Arumque,î by American composer Eric Whitacre. They will also perform a new setting of Christina Rossettiís ěLove Was Born at Christmas,î featuring several student soloists, arranged by Kirby.
Handbell Choir: Familiar carols and songs, including ěThe First Nowell,î in a setting by Sandra Eithun; ěWhite Christmas,î arranged by Cynthia Dobrinski; and ěAngels from the Realms of Glory,î arranged by Hart Morris.
Wind ensemble: An exciting arrangement of ěCarol of the Bellsî and other selections.
