Hereís an addendum to the 2011 Sharing the Season list published in the Post on Sunday.
The list includes local nonprofits, human service agencies and schools and their needs.

Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Society, Inc.

Purpose: Annually presents four performances of the Salisbury Symphony and one of the North Carolina Symphony, two performances of the Nutcracker, and one of the Pops at the Post with funds raised by a separate board. Also provides teachers for after-school string program and annual orchestra concert for all fifth-graders and string trio/quartet concert for younger students in all schools.
Needs: in order of priority
At Catawba: New orchestra shell, pit renovation to original plans (requiring new storage area for Theater Department)
At Livingstone: Stage enlargement or reworking of entire performance space, new seats and other comfort improvements to audience area
Equipment needed for all concerts: New musiciansí chairs, additional music stands
In the community: Orchestra program in all middle and high schools, more support for music and all the arts in our school system.

Prevent Child Abuse Rowan and
The Terrie Hess House

Purpose: To stop child abuse in Rowan County through education, intervention and support. Funding is dependent on grants and donations.
Needs: Volunteers, copy paper, Walmart gift cards, ink cartridges (Kodak ESP office 6150), 9-by-12-inch clasp manila envelopes, letter-size file folders, small conference table and chairs, laptop computer, copier, paper towels, toilet tissue, tissues, kitchen trash bags, magazines and monetary donations to continue services.

Purpose: To provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
Needs:Cash contributions in any amount, stand-up freezer, ice maker, hand truck, gasoline pressure washer, aluminum camper shell for a pickup truck (64″x94″x3’or4′), two trailer hitches

Humane Society of Davie County

Purpose: To relieve suffering of animals, provide education on the proper care and treatment of animals and promote spaying and neutering of cats and dogs to alleviate the overpopulation of unwanted animals in our community. We provide a safe place for abused and abandoned cats and dogs, while providing health care, spaying/neutering, protection, warmth, care and love while they wait for adoption into loving homes.
Needs:
Animal supplies including Purina Puppy or Dog Chow (all brown kibble), Purina Kitten or Cat Chow and scooping, clumping cat litter.
Cleaning supplies including laundry detergent, dish detergent, trash bags, paper towels, bleach, exam gloves, 13- and 30-gallon trash bags.
Adoptive and foster care homes for loving HSDC cats and dogs.
Tax deductible monetary donations are appreciated and may be specified for veterinary care of stray and abandoned animals, spay/neuter assistance or other outreach services.
Office supplies including copy paper, color paper, file folders, address labels and No. 10 envelopes.
