SALISBURY ó A Rowan County grand jury indicted a Fort Bragg soldier who was charged in September with indecent liberties after talking in a chatroom with an investigator posing as a girl.
Authorities said Nathaniel Dempsey made contact with a Rowan Sheriffís investigator posing as a 14-year-old girl in a Yahoo chatroom.
Dempsey, of Fayetteville, initially contacted the undercover deputy on July 5. According to a department report, the investigator was invited to a webcam session where he witnessed Dempsey ěacting inappropriately while at the computer.î
Dempsey was indicted in October on two counts felony indecent liberties with a child and two counts misdemeanor disseminating harmful material to minors.
After an initial search, deputies contacted the Fort Bragg Criminal Investigations Department, which identified Dempsey. He is a member of the Army Special Forces.
The grand jury also indicted the following:
Kacey Adams, superseding indictment on habitual felon.
Adams along with his wife, Jessica Maria Quick Adams, were arrested in January.
Kacey Adams was also indicted in April, July and September for his involvement in multiple car break-ins at a restaurant and a local church.
The superseding indictment surpasses district court and is placed within the superior court system.
Robert Beaver, trafficking in opiates, possession with intent to sell and deliver, simple possession of hydrocodone and habitual felon.
While working at Applebeeís in Salisbury, Beaver, of Kannapolis, was served a warrant for an outstanding failure to appear charge.
When authorities searched Beaver, they reported finding oxycontin, methadone and hydrocodone pills. According to a department report, bags of pills were found in an orange pill bottle in the manís pocket. A methadone pill was found in a cigarette pack.
Damien Billy, felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance and intoxicated/disruptive.
Michael Bost, possession of stolen motor vehicle.
Bost was arrested in October after authorities said he ran a stop sign on a mo-ped that didnít belong to him. He told officers he was fixing the mo-ped and was riding it to make sure it was running properly.
Joshua Bostian and Matthew George, assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
Bostian and George along with a third person were arrested in July for assaulting another man.
Michael Brooker, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine.
Brooker was arrested during a traffic checkpoint after authorities noticed his strange behavior. Upon searching Brooker, officers discovered he was hiding drugs in his underwear.
Joshua Burleyson, assault causing serious bodily injury.
Burleyson was charged in August with assaulting a handicapped person after authorities say he punched the man, causing him to fall down a flight of steps.
Richard Cooley, carrying a concealed gun, carrying a concealed weapon, simple possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities arrested Cooley after he was driving a car with an expired tag. Cooley, a convicted felon, had a semi-automatic handgun and a pistol on the dashboard. He also had pills. He was indicted in August.
Samantha Davis, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Frances Dewalt, two counts forgery and uttering.
Timothy Donahue, aiding and abetting armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Also Roderick Hardin, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and Leo McIntyre, aiding and abetting armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
A July home invasion at a Deal Road home involved multiple people, of which Donahue knew the homeowner had cash at the home.
Daniel Flores, indecent liberties with a child
October police warrants said a Rockwell couple knew Flores was a registered sex offender but still allowed him ěto be unsupervised in a camper overnight with two juveniles, ages 9 and 11.î
Christopher Gareau, felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, simple possession of a schedule VI substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, driving while license revoked and habitual felon.
He was arrested in July with heroin possession.
Kareem Henderson, two counts robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Henderson, of New York, was arrested in April for his involvement in an armed robbery in February at the Bank of America on West Innes Street.
Antonio Kerns, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver controlled substance; felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances; felony selling and delivering a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of school property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Kerns was arrested in September following a drug raid at his home on Partee Street.
Authorities found cocaine and marijuana at the home. The house was less than a quarter mile from Livingstone College.
Joseph Lightsey II, three counts of identity theft.
Police say Lightsey and another man broke into a number of vehicles on Sunset Drive in February. He was also indicted in September on a number of larceny and breaking and entering charges.
Dustin McLeod, resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer, and felony malicious conduct by a prisoner.
Police arrested McLeod in August after responding to a domestic dispute at Super 8 Motel on Bendix Drive between he and his girlfriend that began inside and spilled into the parking lot. He didnít comply with officers and blew his bloody nose at an officer, splattering blood on the officerís boots.
Joshua McNeely, habitual felon and felony possession of heroin.
In July police found black tar heroin on wax paper inside his car.
Heath OíBrien, six counts breaking and entering a motor vehicle, five counts misdemeanor larceny and larceny of a firearm. Aaron Yarborough, six counts breaking and entering a motor vehicle, six counts misdemeanor larceny and larceny of a firearm.
On June 1, the Rowan County Sheriffís Office began investigating reports of numerous car break-ins in the Eastland Drive area of Rockwell. The cars were broken into during the night while the residents slept.
Melissa Ott, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts trafficking opium/heroin and possession with intent to sell, manufacture and deliver a controlled substance.
Clarence Rhyne, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official and felony fleeing to elude arrest.
Rhyne was arrested in April after he went through a checkpoint in China Grove. He tried to hit a Landis Police officer with his vehicle who attempted to stop the vehicle. He was shot in the arm by the officer.
Dorothy Roig, two counts of trafficking heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, and maintaining a vehicle to keep and store a controlled substance.
Roig was arrested in December 2010 after a traffic violation led to the drug trafficking charges.
Ramik Sessoms, breaking and entering, injury to personal property, larceny after breaking and entering.
The homeowner arrived home in time to see the getaway car leaving. Sessoms was arrested in August.
Donnell Shavers, common law robbery.
Authorities said he hit a man with his own sword before stealing it. He was arrested in August.
Jessica Snider and Brian White, second-degree kidnapping and felony robbery with a weapon.
Both were arrested in October after a man told police he was robbed at gunpoint inside his Bendix Drive apartment.
Kenneth Swann, trafficking opium/heroin by possession; trafficking opium by transportation; possession of drug paraphernalia; resist, obstruct, delay a police officer; driving while license revoked; maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance.
He was arrested in August after police found 57 tablets of oxycontin in his possession and he swallowed a bag of crack cocaine. While he was being arrested, a bag of cocaine fell out of his underwear. Before police could get to it, he picked it up and swallowed it. Another bag fell to the ground also.
Kevin Toomer, possession of a felony firearm by a felon, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
He was arrested in August for firing a weapon into a West Fisher Street home in July.
Adam Towell, three counts of indecent liberties with a child.
Authorities say he inappropriately touched the 7-year-old daughter of a family friend whom he was babysitting.
Tega Kay Turner, robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Turner was charged in September with robbing a Rushco service station clerk at gunpoint in August.
Miguel Urrutia, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule VI controlled substance and felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance.
He was arrested in May along with a woman where authorities found ecstasy pills, crack cocaine and marijuana during an apartment search.
Charles Ward, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ward was in his vehicle that was pulled over on the side of the road. An officer stopped to check and offer assistance and discovered he had a suspended license.
Abdul White, aiding and abetting armed robbery.
He was charged in October along with his brother and three others with planning a Deal Road robbery while in the Mecklenburg County jail.
Joshua Winecoff, breaking and entering a place of worship and breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
A break-in occurred in August at Grace Lutheran Church.
Michael Conner (Conner), assault by strangulation.
He is accused of taking money from a man and assaulting him in April.
Robert Craver, possession of a firearm by a felon.
Authorities said investigators made undercover purchases of hydrocodone and black tar heroin from Craver. The investigation began in late June and he was charged in August. He was indicted in September.
Jeffrey Daniels, habitual felon, sell and deliver marijuana, and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
Undercover drug investigation nets multiple arrests in October.
Nicholas Gibson, felony possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance.
He was arrested in May after authorities noticed a group of people hanging out in the 800 block of East Lafayette Street. Gibson had a bookbag with eight bags of marijuana totaling 107 grams.
Deshawn Outlaw, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Loud music led police to marijuana and felony charges in September. An officer attempted to write a warning for loud music when the K-9 alerted to possible drugs.
