WOODLEAF — Deputies have investigated nearly a dozen burglaries around the Woodleaf area since the end of October.
According to incident reports, detectives responded to at least 11 home burglaries within a 10-mile radius from the end of October to the end of November.
No one has been arrested.
Several of the burglaries had similar evidence, deputies said, usually involving kicked-in front or rear doors to the homes.
Detectives reported three burglaries on Cool Springs Road on Oct. 28, Nov. 21 and Nov. 22.
Authorities also reported that thieves broke into two homes on Woodleaf Road and two homes on N.C. 801.
Linda Kyles was one of the victims on Cool Springs Road.
Kyles said she left the house at 8:30 a.m. and when she returned about 10:30 a.m. the front door had been kicked open.
An October incident report said almost $6,000 in jewelry and other items were taken from the home.
“They kicked in my living room door and went right on in and helped themselves,” Kyles said. “I know all of my stuff is long gone.”
Kyles said she’s asking neighbors to be aware of those loitering near homes in the area.
She said she’s worried someone’s going to be injured before the thieves are caught.
“I would just hate to see them break in on some elderly person and hurt them,” she said.
Authorities said a gold four-door sedan, possibly a Mitsubishi, that is missing a front right hub cap has been seen near several homes in the area.
Deputies said another group has broken into homes near Old Mocksville Road.
Three men, believed to be in their 20s, have been seen leaving one of the burglaries, officers said. They left in a dark green Ford Taurus.
