Josh Medlin hit a clutch 3-pointer with 29 seconds left to lift South Rowan over host North Iredell 53-49 in an NPC game played on Monday in Olin.
Medlin finished with 26 points and the Raiders hit five treys in a strong third quarter for their first conference win.
ěIn the third quarter, we came out and played extremely well,î South coach John Davis said. ěWe were focused on defense.î
Shawn Spry had eight points for South (2-8, 1-2) with Qua Neal and Houston Allen chipping in six apiece.
n South Rowanís girls (4-6, 1-2) fell to North Iredell 67-26.
Brittani Cartner and Brooke Redmond combined for 49 points for North.
Avery Locklear scored a team-high 13 for South.

Kacie Stamey scored 18 points to lead South Rowanís girls (6-2) to a 50-33 win against North Iredell.
n East Rowanís girls beat West Rowan 34-22 behind Kennedy Lambertís eight points and 11 rebounds.
Kaleigh Troutman had six rebounds. Amani Ajayi had six points and eight steals. Elane Kepley scored seven points for the Mustangs (8-1, 2-1 NPC).
n Westís boys beat East 64-56 on Monday. Celexus Long scord 15 points for the Falcons, and Josh Gaskin scored 12.
Samuel Wyrick and Seth Wyrick scord 14 each for the Mustangs (5-4, 2-1 NPC)
Jack Weisenel had 11 points, while Austin Hill and Dock Corpening scored seven apiece for East.

Devon Morrison led the way for the Bulldogs (9-0) with nine points, six rebounds and five assists.
Noah Williams had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Amara Morris had nine points, and Dearius Phillips and K.J. Wilson scored eight each.
Zach Marchinko scored eight for the Patriots.
West will play Knox on Wednesday.
Girls
Southeast 23, West 16
Khaila Hall led the Bulldogs (7-2) with nine points and seven rebounds.
Peyton Greene had eight rebounds, and Marissa Henderson pulled down seven.

Malaysia Williams scored 14 points for the Yellow Jackets.
Kamryn Stamey added seven.
n Pfeiffer hoops
Pfeifferís womenís basketball team (5-4) lost 71-68 to Brevard on Monday despite 21 points by Jodie Lemons.
Lindsay Brendle paced the Tornados (5-3) with 15 points.
n North Hills hoops
The North Hills varsity boys battered Statesville Christian 80-36.
Moussa Doucara (18 points), Nikolas Petruk (16), Taylor Kriminger (13), Vismantas Marijosius (12) and Povilas Dambrauskas (11) scored in double figures for the Eagles.
It was the first win in the Southern Piedmont Athletic Association, which is comprised of Davidson Day, Gaston Day, Hickory Christian, North Hills , Statesville Christian, United Faith and Victory Christian.
n Prep football
Davie County quarterback Adam Smith will be one of six recipients of the Carolina Panthers Community Captain Award.
Smith will be honored in pregame ceremonies on Dec. 24 before the Panthers play Tampa Bay.
n Local golf
Phil Miller and Nate Jessup shot 61-64 ó 125 to win the championship flight of the Warrior Two-Man Texas Scramble by three shots over Corey Basinger-Gordon Preddy and Lee Frick-Shane Benfield.
n Jerry Wright and Chris Smith teamed to win the first flight with a 134, three shots better than Michael Dorsett-Ronnie Eidson and Todd Brawley-Craig Brawley.
Justin Edgell and Kevin Stimberis shot 139 to win the second flight.
Mike Self and Bob Correll took the third flight with a 151 total.
n Game of Honor
The documentary ěGame of Honorî is set to air on Showtime on Wednesday at 10 p.m.
It follows the Army and Navy football teams this year from the beginning , with an in-depth look at their unique experiences in the classroom and military training as well as the football field. Armyís Jon Crucitti and Navyís Brantley Horton, former West Rowan athletes, arenít featured but both can be seen in the documentary.
n East Diamond Sports
East Rowan Diamond Sports will have registration for spring baseball for all ages ó T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minors and Majors ó on Sundays, Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29.
T-ball is $65. Every other level is $75.
n The U.S. Baseball Academy camp is returning to East Rowan for the third year, starting in January.
n College swimming
Catawba swimmers set more records in the Shark Invitational on Sunday.
Katia Kruglov set a school record in breaking a 10-year-old archive in the 500 free with a time of 5:07.06, an NCAA B cut.
In the finals of the 100 back Kruglov re-broke her record and won the event with an NCAA ëBí cut time of 58.21.
For the men, Theo Zatterstrom swam to a fifth place finish in the 500 free with a school record and NCAA ëBí cut time of 4:37.17.
Andrew McCollister (Salisbury) swam a personal-best time of 4:41.81 in the prelims of the 500 free.
McCollister and Zatterstrom also swam on the 800 free relay that broke the school record with a 6:56.41 clocking.
