KANNAPOLIS ó Beholdance has awarded three youth volunteers and three chapters the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a national honor offered in recognition of volunteer service.
Individuals winners are DeAnna Butcher, Winston Salem, silver; Jaclyn Swartz, Kannapolis, bronze; Zac Swartz, Kannapolis, bronze
Chapters that won are Beholdance Kannapolis, Founding Chapter, gold; Beholdance Asheboro Chapter, bronze; Beholdance Winston-Salem Chapter, bronze.
Established in 2003, the award is available on an annual basis to individuals, groups and families who have met or exceeded requirements for volunteer service and have demonstrated exemplary citizenship through volunteering.
The awards luncheon will be at Dan Nicholas Park in September.
Beholdance is in its second year as a local youth organization with more than 3,100 hours contributed to conservation and community service. Outreach has included Cabarrus Meals On Wheels, the North Carolina Zoo, the Smile Train, NC DOT Adopt-a-highway, Carolina Raptor Center, City of Concord and global awareness campaigns for Endangered Species and Environmental Education.
