Sean Fox was recently named sports information director (SID) at Pfeiffer University. He officially began his new role in mid-July.
As SID, Fox will promote the university’s athletic programs to current and prospective students, alumni and the general public through publications, media relations and electronic communications, including the Falcons athletic Web site www.gofalsconsports.com. He will work with the local media to report game scores and feature stories about Pfeiffer’s student athletes, produce recruitment publications for Pfeiffer’s 20 athletic teams and generate game programs and media guides.
A Fort Myers, Fla., native and Catawba College graduate, Fox brings applied knowledge to the position. As media and community relations coordinator and broadcaster for the Fort Myers Miracle, a minor league baseball organization in Florida, Fox coordinated players’, mascot and coaches’ appearances throughout the region; handled all donation requests; maintained the team Web site; and broadcast a 140-game schedule, including home and away. He has also served as radio announcer and on-air personality for Clear Channel Radio, a media and entertainment company that owns hundreds of radio and televisions throughout the U.S.
Fox is no stranger to Pfeiffer athletics. While a student at Catawba College, he served as broadcaster for WSAT-AM radio and announced the college’s games, including those played against Pfeiffer. He also served as assistant sports information director at Catawba College.
