Private Tyler Ray Ashley graduated from 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at Marine Corps Recruit Training Base, Parris Island, S.C., Jan. 23, 2009. From there, Pvt. Ashley attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, N.C., and graduated in March 2009.
Pvt. Ashley then attended his Military Occupational Specialty School at Fort Knox, Ky., and graduated July 1, 2009.
He has been promoted to private first class and has now executed his orders to 1st Division, 1st Tank Battalion at Twenty Nine Palms, California.
PFC Ashley is a 2008 graduate of Jesse Carson High School and the son of Donnie and Angie Ashley of Salisbury. He is married to the former Kaila Fowler.
