Bowhunters club to host benefit shoot
West Rowan Bowhunters Club Inc. is hosting a benefit shoot on Sunday for JoAnna Trent, daughter of former club members Earl and Barbara Trent. She is 7 and was diagnosed in October with anaplastic large cell lymphoma cancer, a fast-growing type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
JoAnna and her family will be present for a portion of the day on Sunday. She continues treatments at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Registration for the 3-D archery tournament is from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Over the past 10-plus years, the West Rowan Bowhunters Club’s “We Care Fund” has donated an average of $2,000 annually to qualifying cancer patients and families with special needs. Through paying utility bills, house payments, or buying medicine and gasoline for families, the club has helped dozens of people. In addition, members have built ramps for wheelchairs and remodeled bathrooms to accommodate handicapped persons in need.
Several items will be available for silent auction and raffle after the archery shoot. Snacks and refreshments will be available as well.
Call John Napier at 704- 279-4576 for more information.
The club is located on Amity Hill Road, one mile from U.S. 70.
