Love Christian Center
EAST SPENCER ó Love Christian Center’s youth department is holding its “Youth on Fire Conference 2009” June 26-28.
The conference began Friday at 7:30 p.m. with Minister Vernon William of Mount Olive New Anointed Faith Ministries of Roanoke, Va.Tonight at 5 p.m., the Prophetess Miriam Parker Keller, from Remnant in Christ Outreach Worship Center in Salisbury, will be speaking. There will also be a Youth Extravaganza. Sunday at 11 a.m. Brother Jonathan Rhinehart of Yadkin Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salisbury will be speaking.The 5 p.m. service will feature speaker Bishop Lawrence Kerns of New Accord Ministries in Statesville.

Erwin Temple
COOLEEMEE ó The pastor and members of Erwin Temple CME Church will observe their annual homecoming service Sunday.
Praise worship will begin at 11 a.m. The morning message will be given by the pastor, the Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. Music will be provided by the Mass Choir and Minister of Music Travis Williams.
Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall at 2 p.m.
Afternoon worship will begin at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Jamie Grant of New Patterson Grove Faith Church, East Bend, will be the guest minister to deliver the homecoming message. Music will be rendered by the choir.
A three-night revival will follow on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, beginning nightly at at 7 p.m.
The following ministers will speak during the revival: Monday, the Rev. Gary Milton of Boxwood Baptist Church; Tuesday, the Rev. John Cade of Files Chapel Baptist Church; and Wednesday, the Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. of Erwin Temple.
Area churches and choirs are invited to participate in all services.
Word of Life
The youth and congregation of Word of Life Family Worship Center announces their annual youth conference “Transformers óYouth Transformed For Christ.”
The conference will be held June 27-28. Saturday’s events begin with an 11 a.m. fellowship and communion service conducted by the children and teens. At 12:30 p.m. the outdoor games and cookout will begin.
A 6:30 p.m service on Saturday will include a talent show and teen summit. The Sunday service will begin at 10 a.m. The Rev. Harvey “Chip” Rice, Jr., an associate minister at Maranatha Fellowship Church in High Point, will be the guest speaker. The 2009 Children’s Church graduates will also be recognized during the service. This year’s graduates are: Antonio Biggers, Alisha Chambers, Ryanishia Chambers, Moriah Duren, Ajaree Herndon, and Kristian Smith.

Jerusalem Baptist
The Men’s Fellowship Ministry of Jerusalem Baptist Church will hold their annual Men’s Conference and Men’s Day June 27-28.
The 2009 Men’s Conference will begin today at 9 a.m. The conference theme will be “Preparing God’s Men for the 21st Century.”
Workshops will include “Health and Wellness “by Diane Logherman, “Financial Planning” by the Rev. Samuel Washington and “Today’s Youth” by Nesbit Mills.
The speaker will be the Rev. John R. Bankhead of Restoration Baptist Church, Kannapolis. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall following the speaker.
Men’s Day will be observed Sunday during an 11 a.m. worship service.
The speaker for this occasion will be the Rev. David L. Bracken. The speaker for the 4 p.m. service will be the Rev. Timothy Bates of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Statesville. He will be accompanied by his congregation.
Mighty Miracle
SPENCER ó Mighty Miracle Temple Church will have a guest speaker at morning worship Sunday when Elder Eugene E. Ramos Sr of Deliverance Apostolic Holiness Temple delivers the message at 11 a.m.
Bible study is Thursday nights at 7 p.m.

Halls Temple
Halls Temple Church is having their annual Men’s Day service Sunday at 11 a.m.
The speaker for morning worship service will be Minister T. King of Glorious Emmanuel Church.
The speaker for the 3:30 p.m. service, along with other invited churches, is the Rev. M. Wheeler of Daran Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C.
The host for the service is the Rev. E. Bruce.

St. Matthew Baptist
ROCKWELL ó St. Matthew Baptist Church is having a Missionary Program sponsored by Sister Ellen Robertson today at 7 p.m.

Missionary Union
The Salisbury Rowan County Missionary Union will celebrate the 28th annual Missions Prayer Day today at Jerusalem Baptist Church.
This event is sponsored by the Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention of North Carolina.
Mount Zion MissionaryMount Zion Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 142nd annual homecoming weekend beginning today and Sunday.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. today with a community fellowship picnic on the church campus. Activities include a church history exhibit, moonbounce, arts and crafts, free health screenings, dental exams and presentations from the Salisbury Police Department and Smart Start Rowan. There will also be a gospel disc jockey providing music.
Sunday’s activities begin with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and morning worship at 10:55 a.m.
The service will be led by the Rev. Dr. Nilous Avery II. There will also be performances by The Creative Expression Ministry, Incredible Praise Ministry and Kingdom Builders Voices of Praise. Dress is “come as you are.”

Faith Lutheran
FAITH ó Faith Lutheran Church will have a special Independence Day Worship Celebration of our freedom this Sunday.
The celebration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday school and a joint service of FaithWorks and the traditional service, called “Come Together In Faith” beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The worship service will begin with the ringing of the toll bell to remember former members and all Americans who paid the supreme sacrifice for our freedom.
Following the processional hymn, a trio consisting of Don Deming, Tony Herrin and Tim Williams will sing “Under God” as a call to worship. Members of the Faith American Legion will present the flag of our country and the Christian Flag. Worshippers will be invited to say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the “Star Spangled Banner.”
Donnie Moose will provide the children’s message entitled “Freedom” and Lector John Bruce will read from Deuteronomy answering the question, “What does God require of a Nation?” and from Galatians, “The proper use of Freedom?” and from John, “Genuine Freedom?”
Guest pastor, the Rev. Floyd Bost, will deliver the message for the day entitled “We Say we are Free”. The Chancel Choir will sing a gospel version of “Battle Hymn of the Republic” arranged for Mark Hayes. The choir is directed by Don Deming, music director and accompanied by Daisy Bost, organist.
Holy Communion will be celebrated, and the congregation will be invited to sing.
The Rev. Clarence Sifford is interim pastor of Faith Lutheran Church.

Mt. Vernon
WOODLEAF ó Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church will observe its Family and Friends Day this Sunday.
The morning service will begin at 11 a.m. with Lester Smith as the guest minister. The Gospel Choir of Mt. Vernon, will render several musical selections during the morning service. Lunch will be served immediately following morning service.
The afternoon service will begin at 2:30 p.m with Dr. Catrelia Hunter as the speaker. The service will end with church members, family, and friends assembling in the church’s parking lot to give thanks for the completion of another phase of church remodeling and construction.

New Beginning
KANNAPOLIS ó New Beginning Church will have its first Usher Board Anniversary Service this Sunday at 3 p.m.

Lyerly Evangelical
ROCKWELL ó Lyerly Evangelical Church, 1320 Crescent Road., will begin a television ministry on July 1. The 30-minute broadcast will appear on Time Warner Cable Channel 19 at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday.
It will feature a sermon by the church’s pastor, Wallace C. Gaither Jr., as well as other informational and inspirational selections.
The television ministry was funded by several gifts from non-member friends of Lyerly Church, as well as church funds. The Media Outreach Committee members are Jimmy Alexander, J. D. Ludwig, Linda Merrell, Charles Myers, Danny Stiltner and the pastor. They are responsible for filming, editing, and sending the video to Time Warner Cable in Charlotte.
Dorsett Chapel
SPENCER ó The Women’s Fellowship of Dorsett Chapel is celebrating their Women’s Weekend June 26-28.
This year’s theme is “Living My Best Life: Life without Limits” (John 10:10).
On Friday evening, June 26 at 6 p.m., a review of the book “Deal with it: You Cannot Conquer What You Will Not Confront” was held.
Today, beginning at 4 p.m., workshops on “How to Live Your Best Life” will be held. Co-Pastor Linda Scott of Life in the Word Fellowship of Lexington, and Pastor Shay Geter of Zoe Church of Deliverance, will conduct the workshops.
The weekend will conclude Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Minister Diane Roberts of Mt. Calvary Holy Church will be the morning speaker.

GRANITE QUARRY ó Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 602 S. Salisbury Ave., Granite Quarry, will observe its annual Women’s Day Sunday.
The 11 a.m. speaker will be church member Sister Tara White. The 3:30 speaker will be Evangelist Joyce Williams, associate of Shady Grove Baptist Church, East Spencer, along with her choir and congregation.

Delores plays steel guitar, doboro, mandolin and is the featured singer.

St. Luke’s Reformed
The congregation of St. Luke’s Reformed Church, 1775 St. Luke’s Church Road, will celebrate Independence Day Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service.
Holy Communion will be administered by the Rev. Johnny Boggs.
The contemporary service begins at 8:15 a.m., followed by Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.
There will be special music, and a patriotic sing-along for the congregation. Bob Williamson will present a military skit for the children’s sermon.
