The Pregnancy Support Center’s Annual Walk for Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, at the J.F. Hurley YMCA. Walker registration, refreshments, music, games, activities and the (non-competitive) 2-mile walk are on a “drop-in” basis from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
This year’s theme is “Saving Lives One Step at a Time.”
“We believe that step-by-step we all can make a difference,” a press release said. “Psalm 37:23 states, ‘The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.’ We hope your steps will be ordered to help us in our goals of making a difference in Rowan County.”
Making a difference — the act of having a significant effect on a person or situation.
Together — With or in proximity to another person or people.
It takes people seeing a need and willing to address it to make a change for the future, the news release said. Working as a team encourages more productivity and results in change-motivated acts.
“For more than 27 years, the Pregnancy Support Center has been reaching out to the needs of those in Rowan County. We need your help so we can continually make a difference together.
“The center wants to continue the idea of ‘Saving Lives One Step at a Time’ not only financially, through its fundraising events, but also saving lives in all its efforts. Our dedicated team, truly believe this is obtainable and will see positive results in financial support, volunteer support, staff support and most of all changed lives of clients.
“The Walk for Life is one of the year’s most significant fundraisers for the center and serves as an opportunity for the community to make a positive statement about the sanctity of human life.”
