The Salisbury Housing Authority received a city variance this week that will allow a driveway to serve a duplex at the corner of Maxwell and 15th streets.
Salisbury City Council approved the driveway variance.
The city code restricts property with two-family dwellings to two driveway connections. The Housing Authority’s property has five duplexes, making the two-driveway limit “not viable,” Traffic Engineer Wendy Brindle reported.
The Housing Authority is upgrading the unit at 403 W. 15th St. to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The driveway approved for Maxwell Street will be 13 feet from the corner and 16 feet wide. City staff recommended the variance.
