West Rowan defensive end Chris Smith committed over the weekend to Arkansas.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound visited the Fayetteville, Ark., campus and called coaches before he left town with the news.
The defensive end turned down offers from East Carolina, Kentucky and Duke to choose Bobby Petrino’s Razorbacks.
Smith was last season’s Rowan County Defensive Player of the Year. He helped lead the Falcons to a 15-1 record and 3A state championship.
