Aaron F. Goss of Salisbury received two graduate degrees from Wake Forest University during commencement exercises May 18, a juris doctor from the School of Law and a master of business administration from the Babcock School of Management.
In law school, he was secretary, chapter president and then treasurer of the law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta, and was secretary and president of the Honor Council. He received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in both partnership taxation and in law practice management.
Goss interned with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of North Carolina and had work published in the Washington University Law Review.
In the MBA program, he was a teaching assistant for the graduate level course quantitative methods.
Aaron earned a bachelor of science in information systems at Catawba College in December 1998 at age 16, and was recognized as the youngest student to have graduated from Catawba College. Before attending graduate school, he was employed by Relativity Technologies in Raleigh.
He is the son of Dr. Fred and Georgellen Agner Goss of Salisbury.
Phi Beta Kappa
Kerianne Springer, a recent graduate of Furman University, in Greenville, S.C. was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa academic honorary society in ceremonies last month at the Watkins Room of the University Center.
She was inducted into the South Carolina Gamma chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
While at Furman, Springer working with Hispanic families in the community through the Greenville Literacy Association and volunteered in the Greenville hospital system.
She also participated in research involving the use of fluorescent markers in DNA for two summers in the chemistry department. She was a resident adviser for two years.
Springer graduated on May 9, magna cum laude. She majored in chemistry with a concentration in biology and is the daughter of Mark and Marti Springer of China Grove. She will enter medical school at the University for South Carolina in the fall and hopes to become a pediatrician.
President’s list
Brittany Taylor has been placed on the president’s list for the spring semester of 2009 at Campbell University.
She is a junior and a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. She is the daughter of Glenn and Kim Taylor of Salisbury.
Rotary Club awards scholarships
The Salisbury Rotary Club has awarded $22,000 in academic scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Twenty-two area students were each awarded $1,000 during their recent high school award assemblies by members of the Rotary Club. These scholarships provide financial assistance for tuition, books, fees and other related expenses at the recipients’ college of choice.
Recipients of the scholarship must be Rowan County residents who are full-time students and have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement during the 2008-2009 year.
