The South Rowan Chorus will present its final concert of the year Monday at 7 p.m. at South Rowan.
There will be six performing ensembles featured in the concert along with numerous solos and duets. The combined chorus classes will join for “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and conclude with the benediction, “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.”
Varsity Singers will open the show with a novelty number introducing the voice parts of a choir, called “We Are the Choir.” Then Chorus 2 and 1 will sing “Everytime the Music Starts” and “America Sings.” Chorus 1 will present “One Voice,” “Go Ye” and “Cole’s Song” with sign language. Chorus 2 will sing “So Small,” “For the Beauty of the Earth” and “The Water is Wide.” The women will be featured in a folk song, “Rattlin’ Bog” and the men will sing and dance to “Little Red Riding Hood.” The Honors Chorus will sing an a cappella vocal jazz arrangement of “America the Beautiful.” Varsity Singers will perform their two competition pieces which they recently received Superior ratings on at choral festival: “Set Me as a Seal” and “I’m Gonna Sing till the Spirit Moves.” Then they will dance to “Dancin’ in the Streets” and “Dance Evolution.”
The men’s gospel quartet, Aaron Tyler, Korey Randall, Jacob Jester and Dan Donaldson, will sing “Precious Lord” and “My Lord and I.” Five senior girls, Ashley Ervin, Angel Laursen, Sarah King, Autumn Kimball and Taylor May, will sing “Pie Jesu,” dedicated it to the memory of two former choir students killed this semester.
The duet, “At the Beginning,” from “Anastasia” will be sung by Lindsay Frye and Korey Randall. Aaron Tyler will sing “The Red Hills of Home” from the Broadway musical “Parade.
The concert is free and open to all.
