SALISBURY — A Salisbury man has been charged with raping a teenage girl. Authorities say he is an acquaintance of the victim’s family.
Christopher Demarcus Elliott, 27, was charged Tuesday with felony statutory rape, according to the Salisbury Police Department. Elliott was arrested in the 1900 block of St. Luke’s Church Road.
According to a police investigator, the victim is now 15 but was 14 at the time of the assault. She told her father about it, and he reported it to police.
The Rowan County Department of Social Services is also looking into the matter.
The crime is said to have occurred May 20 at the home of a mutual acquaintance, the investigator said.
Elliott has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
