- JON C. LAKEY/SALISBURY POST A new wall art design recently was created in Salisbury by urban artist Shane Pierce known as Abstract Dissent. A prominent white wall along the 1300 block of East Innes Street was transformed into a grey and blue "Welcome to Salisbury" with blocking of purples and magenta hues. The wall is a short distance from the Interstate 85 exit and access ramps and sits back of the roadway several feet. Salisbury,North Carolina,1/9/20.
Shane Pierce, better known by his artist name Abstract Dissent, and David Arbaiza, who goes by Cave, created this “Welcome to Salisbury” graffiti piece in early January.
The piece is located off of East Innes Street between I-85 and Faith Road.
Pierce has painted artwork across the city of Salisbury for businesses. Arbaiza, meanwhile, was the winner of the Graff Park Paint Jam popular vote contest last year.
In helping create the piece, Pierce said he owed a lot to Salisbury for helping kick off his spray painting career and that he wanted to do something to give back
