SALISBURY — Two people were shot and one was killed in a shooting just before 3 a.m. Sunday on East Innes Street, according to police, and a 23-year-old woman is under arrest in the case.

Reports say that at approximately 2:49 a.m., Salisbury Police responded to the parking lot of 127 East Innes Street after calls reporting shots had been fired. Officers found two people with gunshot wounds at the scene. Donald James Krajnyak, 47, was declared dead and a second victim was transported to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment and remains in critical care with life-threatening injuries.

The SPD Criminal Investigation Division identified a suspect in the shooting and at 6 a.m. officers arrested Alexus Burshell Bost, 23, at a residence in the 1100 block of New Jersey Drive. Bost has been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder. She is being held at the Rowan County Detention Center without bond.

Bost does have some history with police. She was arrested Sept. 14, 2023 and charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

“The Salisbury Police Department would like to extend our prayers to the victim’s family,” said Major Justin Crews in a press release for the department.

SPD also offered thanks to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, Granite Quarry PD, Spencer PD, North Carolina Highway Patrol and Rockwell PD for their assistance with the incident.
