SALISBURY – A rash of burglaries on Feb. 14 that prompted an investigation by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in an arrest, according to a release.
During the investigation, a white van was captured on a security camera at one of the burglary sites. Photos of the van were shared on Facebook, leading several community members to provide crucial information.
Detectives were able to identify the van’s owner and conduct interviews that resulted in the
identification of a suspect, Dominic Jankowski.
A search warrant executed at Jankowski’s residence, located at 220 Ellis Loop Road, uncovered two enclosed trailers on the property. It was determined that these trailers had been reported stolen and were filled with various stolen items.
The trailers were taken to a secure storage lot, where their contents were inventoried. During this process, detectives identified seven additional law enforcement agencies across North Carolina that had open burglary reports linked to the stolen property found in the trailers.
The estimated value of the recovered property is $86,000.
Jankowski is currently being held at the Rowan County Detention Center with a secure bond set at $205,000.
“We appreciate the community’s involvement in helping us identify the suspect in this case,” said Sheriff Travis Allen.
