SALISBURY — Last week, on March 19, Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies announced they were searching for a Rockwell man named Joseph Parham Jr., and on Sunday night, investigators notified the public they had Parham in custody.

On Sunday evening at 8:44 p.m., deputies stopped a white Hyundai Kona in which they knew Parham had been riding.

Parham was wanted for shooting into an occupied vehicle and possession of firearm by a felon. Investigators were informed during that stop that Parham was at a home on Deer Haven Drive. As deputies were approaching that location, they spotted Parham running out the back door and stopped him. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Parham was served with the outstanding warrants for discharging a firearm into occupied property and possession of firearm by a felon. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under no bond due to the pre-trial integrity act.

The charges stem from an investigation in February when detectives were advised that someone had fired a gun into a stolen vehicle at 660 Sides Road, Salisbury.

Investigators determined Parham and another party were involved in a disagreement that carried forward to the Sides Road driveway where Parham shot into the car.

No one was injured during this incident.
