High school track and field: SPC teams in action at South

LANDIS – Northwest Cabarrus’ girls won Thursday’s five-team track meet at South Rowan that included five South Piedmont Conference teams.

Team scores were Northwest (118), South (62), Central Cabarrus (54), Carson (46) and Lake Norman Charter (42). Five places scored, with eight points for first place.

South’s Clancy Street won the shot put (2 feet, 8 inches) and added a third in the discus.

Madalynn Gulledge had a second in the 1600 (6:03) and a third in the 800 (2:46) for the Raiders.

Hannah Dellinger was third in the 300 hurdles. Kayleigh Draughn was third in the high jump. Adyson Howard was third in the triple jump.

South won the 4×400 in 4:34.14 and took third in the 4×200.

• Rylee Hedrick had a super meet for Carson with three second places. She edged Gulledge for second in the 800 and was second in the long jump (15-3.5) and triple jump (32-1).

Carson’s Cadi Joyner won the high jump (5-0). Renna Linn was second in the pole vault. Tasean Perkins was third in the long jump (15-0.5). Carson placed second in the 4×100.

Lake Norman Charter won the boys meet with 138 points. Next were Northwest Cabarrus (72), Central Cabarrus (58), South Rowan (41) and Carson (35).

South’s Peyton Nail won the 800 (2:19), while Sawyer Sifford won the shot put (37-5). Bryan Velasquez was third in the shot put and South placed third in the 4×100 and 4×400.

• Da’mon Broussard won the discus for Carson with an effort of 110 feet, 7 inches.

Taner Simpson placed third in both hurdling events.

Colin Masingo was third in the high jump (5-10), and the Cougars had thirds in the 4×100 and 4×200.
